Election Year

Remembering the last Presidential election year, there was so much buzz about making a difference by voting; it was a way your voice could be heard. It was great to see the media pro-active in getting everyone to register to vote, especially college freshman. I see the same enthusiasm this year but more so because it could be historical. This year there are new candidates, new propositions, and new lies to pacify the masses by eloquently masking the real issues at hand. While the public is lulled with propoganda, the candidates avoid or skirt the issues in hopes to persuade the public to vote for them. They make promises they can't keep. Promises that keep them ahead in the polls yet these same issues sit on the back burner once the officials are voted into office. With the growing issues surrounding the nation, it's hard to make the right choice. Too many politicians are swayed by popular views or what seems to be a "hot topic" at the moment instead of morals and integrity. When voting, may we all take into consideration who best suits the job and not based on race or simply because we're tired of the leaders we've had in the past. Let the past stay in the past, and look to a brighter future. Leaders that will lead us out of the slump we've been the last eight years.
May the best person be voted into office!
